Habitat, Byron Bay NSW
A new village-style development blending work and living spaces has provided the perfect showcase for the versatility of Alspec’s framing solutions.
The recently completed Byron Bay development "Habitat" has been designed to offer residents the ability to live adjacent to their places of work, eliminating commuting and providing more time for work-life balance.
The village includes buildings with commercial frontages connected to live-in residential areas behind or warehouse style residential apartments above. The two key Alspec products which feature in the development are Swan Evo 45mm Commercial Doors and Hunter Evo 150mm Single Flush Glazed Framing, both of which originated in the commercial building environment. However, due to their superior performance and versatility, they have proven to be the ideal choice for a mixed commercial/residential project such as Habitat.
Swan Evo 45mm Commercial Doors are the preferred option for the commercial premises as they can be configured in hinged, pivoted or sliding applications as required and can seamlessly integrate with Alspec’s framing systems. They also feature technical enhancements which ensure they perform well in the demands of the commercial environment. Meanwhile, their ability to accommodate a variety of glazing options and colour coded wedges makes them attractive for residential uses.
Hunter Evo 150mm Single Flush Glazed Framing is also an extremely flexible product, making it the logical choice for the range of applications required within the development. With self-draining sub sills to cope with weather extremes, the framing system is also constructed of robust materials which ensure it will perform well in varying climatic conditions.
Working together, the simple modern lines of Alspec’s products have helped to create a village with an industrial feel which still sits comfortably in the relaxed beachside environment that is synonymous with Byron Bay.
