Mornington Peninsula, VIC

When maximum views and maximum durability are the criteria, look no further than Alspec’s window and door framing systems.

Created for entertaining, this holiday residence perched on the hills of the Mornington Peninsula has been designed to prioritise panoramic views from both indoor and outdoor locations.Built as a holiday residence, the home includes two double storey wings – a main wing with the master bedroom and primary living areas, and a secondary wing with four guest bedrooms, which can be closed off when not required. The two wings are separated by a central glazed entry which frames views across the bay to Melbourne, while the main living areas open out to the pool, generous deck and terrace area.

The complexity of the design revolved around being able to use the largest possible glazed panels for the doors and windows, as well as challenging site access which required a crane to lift the framing over the building into place. Being coastal, consideration also need to be given to the durability of window and door framing solutions.

Alspec window and doors were selected to complete the build: ecoFRAMEplus 101.6mm Centre Pocket Double Glazed Framing to provide the stunning first impression from the grand entrance, and ProGlide High Performance Sliding Doors to provide expansive access to the outdoor entertaining areas and balconies.

The ecoFRAMEplus framing is a robust system with excellent energy efficiency and weathering properties. Given it can be configured to a maximum height of 4800mm and maximum width of 2400mm, it was ideal for this build with its demands for the largest panels possible. ProGlide High Performance Sliding Doors are also suited to expansive openings, able to be installed to a maximum height of 3150mm and width of 2250mm, and able to accommodate up to 200kg of glass per panel. All window and door framing was finished in Electro white – a high durability powder coat.

To add enhance security and protection for the home, Invisi-Gard stainless steel security screens were installed. Made from corrosion resistant 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh, Invisi-Gard screens utilise a superior mesh-retention system to provide protection from unwanted intruders while the mesh’s high level of clarity ensures views are uncompromised.
