Architect Rothelowman designed the building to respond to its context. Smoothed edges surround the perimeter and a natural material palette that was inspired by the honed form of a river pebble. The idea is that the architecture will improve over time from the interaction with the elements; rain and wind.

Aus Windows won the tender. They specialise in manufacturing commercial grade aluminium windows and doors. Aus Windows boasts a highly-skilled team with 22 years of experience in the industry. For this project, they fabricated and installed the windows and doors to the façade, lobby and balconies. To reflect the natural material palette, the colour of the windows and doors is Dulux Duratec Chain Pearl Matt.

Aus Windows Project Manager Peter Giannakakos said ‘Our biggest challenge on the project was the two façades that incorporated large curved aluminium frames and glass as per the architect’s specification. However, all design challenges were carefully considered during the initial design stages of the project, ensuring the project ran successfully.’

The McArthur Evo framing is favourited by architects and designers. The 101mm and 150mm frame was chosen for the façade. This product can be curved which is why it was specified in this project. Curving aluminium is a beautiful feature of the traditional square facades we often see. The self-draining sub-sills ensure no water leakage problems. The apartments orientate to the northern aspect and the facade at the rear portion still has daylight and views.

Alspec’s ProGlide high-performance sliding door was chosen for the balconies. A popular choice for connecting the indoors and outdoors.
The Alspec awning was chosen for the 50mm sashes that offer the benefit of overlapping internal and external seals to achieve superior weather performance. Awning windows are wonderful for natural light, ventilation, and privacy.

The Swan Evo hinged door was installed in the downstairs lobby. This door makes a vast statement upon entry. Bold panels give it a sense of luxury and grandeur.

Aire has a magnificent exterior that blends into its surroundings of blissful parklands and greenery. The windows and doors specified complement the brief and the curved product provides a talking point for the passers-by.
