Upon arrival, it feels like a cabin in the woods, somewhere you feel you can escape the hustle and bustle of life. Somewhere you can cosy up with a book and tea.

The brief for this project was to meet a BAL 29 rating but still have an aesthetic appearance. Georgina Price Design and GTO Building worked together to produce a home that met the brief with the BAL requirements, including the windows and doors.

Alspec products were specified for Tallgum, for their ability to achieve expansive openings without the need to compromise on performance or aesthetics and the BAL29 compliance.

A magnificent window wall is a main feature in the living room. Flooding natural light into this space connects the home to the outdoors. The window wall comprises Alspec’s Air Flo Plus louvre and McArthur Evo framing in Custom Black. The louvres are ideal for natural ventilation and enjoying the cool air breezes coming through the shaded bush and valleys that surround the home. The louvres and all operable windows were screened with Invisi-Gard Screens, which are also BAL29 compliant.

Also specified was Alspec’s Altitude stacker door that leads out to a large deck and pool area at the front of the property. This door can be manufactured 2700mm high that has internal and external sliding panel configurations available.
