With luxurious apartments bathed in light from expansive floor to ceiling doors and windows, the aptly named First Light Mooloolaba development is setting a new standard in beachside living in the Queensland holiday destination. Located just a short distance from Mooloolaba Beach, the new 13 storey build has integrated products from Alspec’s high performance window and door framing ranges to make the most of the stunning views while providing superior protection against the elements.

With expansive balcony openings designed to form a key feature of the apartments, ProGlide High Performance Sliding Doors were installed. Able to span large spaces, the ProGlide doors maximise the indoor-outdoor link while providing excellent performance in all weather extremes. The ProGlide system is incredibly durable, constructed from heavy duty aluminium which effortlessly spans floor to ceiling heights while coping with the extremes of weather. The incorporated stainless steel grates ensure surface water drains away efficiently while the drop in track design means components can be easily replaced in future if they become damaged.

The Hawkesbury Commercial Multi-Fold Door was used to provide access to the building’s shared facility areas including the sundeck, pool area and barbeque space. The Hawkesbury is easy to use thanks to its top-rolling operation and can be configured to stack inward or outward as desired for the intended space.  Meanwhile in other common areas the Swan 45mm Commercial Door was utilised where hinged or pivot doors were required. The Swan’s centre pocket glazing makes it look attractive while providing security benefits appropriate to meet the demands of the holiday apartment environment.

To integrate seamlessly with the door selections, Hunter Evo, McArthur and Murray window framing systems were selected. The Hunter Evo Single Glazed Flush Framing comes in 101.6 and 150 mm depths and can accommodate a range of glass thicknesses. The self-draining sub sills ensure no water ingress and the frames themselves have superior acoustic properties. McArthur 101.6mm Centre Pocket Framing also features self-draining sub sills and the frame’s sharp unbroken lines are perfect for larger areas. Murray 50mm awning windows were installed for openable locations, adding their exceptional thermal performance and acoustic properties to the building’s credentials.
