A busy medical centre is the latest demanding commercial environment to put Alspec’s range of high performance door and window framing products to the test. The recently opened Wyndham medical centre in Werribee, southwest of Melbourne, has been built to provide specialist medical support for the region’s women, including gynaecological, maternity and obstetric services, along with general practitioners. Window and door framing solutions have been selected from Alspec’s top performing products to ensure the facility copes with the anticipated high use.

In a commercial environment of this type, door framing solutions must to be durable and easy to operate. For this facility the solutions were provided by Alspec’s Swan and Hawkesbury ranges. Swan Evo 45mm Double Glazed Commercial doors were the perfect choice for the rigorous requirements of public-facing areas. Specifically designed for the busy commercial environment, Swan doors feature centre pocket glazing which not only looks good but provides added security benefits. They are also versatile, being able to be used in pivoted, hinged or sliding applications as most appropriate for each area.

Hawkesbury Double Glazed Multi-Fold Doors were incorporated to provide access to the building’s two outdoor terrace areas. Located on levels 3 and 4, the terraces can be easily accessed through the smooth functioning multi-fold doors. Designed to span large floor to ceiling heights, the doors easily open up the indoor-outdoor areas as required, while ensuring complete security and protection from the elements when closed.

For the building’s exterior, three key window framing products were utilised: Hunter Evo (single glazed and double glazed) and McArthur. Hunter Evo 150mm Double Glazed framing with structurally glazed mullions was the preferred choice when the capacity to span the larger spaces was paramount, while Hunter Evo 150mm Single Glazed option was included where applicable. Constructed from architectural grade aluminium, the Hunter Evo range accommodates a range of glass thickness options and includes self-draining sub sills which prevent any water penetration.

In other areas, McArthur 101.6mm window frames were utilised. Like the Swan Evo Doors, the McArthur range features centre pocket glazing construction and integrates seamlessly with the Swan Evo range. Both products contribute sound reducing and energy saving properties which will enhance the building’s overall function and performance.

With the new facility now up and running, thousands of women in the Wyndham area have been given easier access to an important range of vital services, provided from a modern, welcoming, high quality facility.
