Large panelled sliding doors have added a true sense of wide open space to the indoor-outdoor living areas of this seaside home on the Mornington Peninsula. Located in the popular beach resort of Rye, this home enjoys a vast indoor-outdoor living space thanks to Alspec ProGlide High Performance sliding doors which neatly disappear into a concealed cavity when fully opened.

Able to accommodate glazing panels weighing up to 200 kg each and up to 2.25m wide, ProGlide sliding doors were easily up to the task of spanning the oversize opening planned for the rear of the home. Three panels were configured within the ProGlide system, operating along flush tracks which feed neatly into the adjacent purpose-built wall. The use of a cavity facilitates the complete integration of the large indoor living area with the timber deck by maximising the width of the opening when the doors are retracted.

Throughout the rest of the home, Carinya Select Awning Windows and Carinya Select Hinged Doors were installed, featuring the same matt black finish as the sliding doors. The Carinya Select range is a purpose-built series of products from Alspec, designed to deliver commercial-grade specifications to products serving the residential market. With their wide face stiles and rails, the modern-look Carinya doors deliver a balanced appearance along with superior durability and performance.

All doors and windows for the project were paired with hardware from the Halliday + Baillie HB640 Series. These New Zealand designed and manufactured components have been produced and tested in the extremes of the local environment, demonstrating they have the longevity and durability required for seaside conditions. With their flush finish and slimline proportions, the Halliday + Baillie hardware was partnered with the ProGlide and Select systems to deliver the contemporary finishing touches to this home.
