Sovereign Hills Shopping Centre, Thrumster NSW
The completion of this spacious, light and welcoming shopping centre is the first stage of a new town centre for a master-planned community on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Modern, light and welcoming are the words that will come to mind for visitors to this new shopping centre on the NSW Mid North Coast. The recently completed Sovereign Hills Shopping Centre is the first stage of a larger service centre being developed as part of key infrastructure for a master planned community near Port Macquarie.
The shopping centre is strategically placed close to the Pacific Highway, making it easy to access for nearby Port Macquarie residents, those in the wider rural community, and visitors to the region. This first stage of the Sovereign Hills master plan includes essential retail outlets and services while the second stage will bring community facilities, entertainment and commercial office space.
The shopping centre has been designed around the concept of maximising connectivity to the natural environment while incorporating sustainability principles. As well as a range of energy efficient features such as solar panels, reclaimed water use, and electric car charging stations, the glazing facades were also selected to deliver energy efficiency credentials appropriate for the subtropical climate.
To construct the complex’s many glazed facades, Alspec’s Hunter Evo 150mm flush glazed framing was selected. The Hunter Evo is a commercial framing system which features a flush glazed appearance and is extremely robust making it ideal for the retail environment. The large glazed panels provide an inviting interface between customers and retailers, while ticking all the boxes in terms of being compliant with cyclonic conditions, bushfire attack level rated, and meeting thermal and acoustic performance requirements.
A versatile product, Hunter Evo framing is available in 101.6mm x 50mm or 150mm x 50mm and can accommodate single or double glazing as required. It can be used in gently curved or faceted facades and can be internally or externally glazed.
