Easier to fabricate and simply operate better – that’s how this fabricator describes Alspec’s window and door framing solutions after working with them on this residential development.

Oscar Aluminium Windows recently completed the fabrication components of IQ  Burwood, a 95-unit smart technology apartment building in Sydney’s inner west. The firm’s estimator, Rohit Pindoria, says working with two of Alspec’s key products made for a very satisfied client and builder.

Two key products used for the development were ProGlide High-Performance Sliding Doors and McArthur Evo 150mm Centre Pocket Framing. The ProGlide doors are tall, the wide-spanning doors made from heavy-duty aluminium, while the McArthur Evo 150mm Centre Pocket Framing is a secure system with sound-reduction properties ideal for large, fixed panes.

“ProGlide doors are a high-end system with good reason,” says Rohit. “You can feel the quality – the doors operate easily and more smoothly than others on the market.”

The McArthur Evo 150mm Centre Pocket Framing provides a sturdy fixed frame that is easily replaced in future if damaged. It is a popular choice for apartment developments, integrating well with other systems such as sliding doors and, in the example of this project, louvre windows.

The IQ Burwood includes only fixed windows and louvre systems: an increasingly popular combination for high-end developments. It gives residents the option of maximising natural ventilation while meeting safety and security needs.

With the site’s location on a busy road, powered Breezway Dualair Stronghold Louvres were recommended. Featuring internal and external louvres within one unit, these louvres provide high acoustic protection from external noise, while the Stronghold blade retention mechanism makes them safe and secure.
