Discover the range of CPD’s available from Alspec.
The Alspec CPD Programme allows Architects, Designers, Engineers and Builders to complete their CPD obligations, whilst gaining valuable knowledge on a range of topics related to Aluminium Systems.
Alspec is recognised as a CPD provider by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Refuel program. Our accredited courses are developed to deliver 1 formal CPD point and take approximately 1 hour to complete, including the formal assessment.

A Specifiers Guide to Commercial Glazed Façade Systems
CPD 1 – Selection of Aluminium Windows and Doors for Commercial Applications
Summary: Provide an understanding of the key design considerations when selecting Aluminium Windows & Doors. There are a number of applicable Australian Standards that relate to Window & Door selections, we will give you an insight into how they affect your selections.
At the end of this presentation you should be able to: Explain the key design considerations when selecting Aluminium Windows and Doors Specify the applicable Performance Standards and how they affect project Specifications List how energy impacts the selection of framing systems for Commercial Applications Identify key features and benefits of the typical surface finishing options
CPD 2 – Understanding Section J NCC 2019 – Windows & Doors
Summary: Provide an understanding of Section J NCC 2019 and its implications on Window & Door selections. What are the impacts of different products on overall Facade Performance and how they may affect overall building design. The Section J requirements within NCC 2019 have been designed to ensure more energy efficient Façade Systems are required. With an approximate improvement of 30% in performance stringency, it is imperative we select appropriate window and doors systems.
At the end of this presentation you should be able to: Identify and apply the new requirements for External Facades in NCC 2019 Evaluate and apply knowledge about the performance of windows and doors Define the impacts of different products on overall façade performance Define the impacts of NCC 2019 on building design and apply to future projects
CPD 3 – Understanding Cladding and the Requirements of the NCC – Pathways to Compliance
Summary: Provide a clear understanding of Cladding Materials, the requirements of the NCC and the pathways to compliance. There are a number of considerations that need to be addressed, in particular, Fire Performance and Compliance are issues that need to be fully understood to ensure safe buildings.
At the end of this presentation you should be able to: Identify and describe the Compliance Pathways within the NCC 2019 Evaluate different Façade systems and Cladding Systems Explain how to achieve Fire Compliance for External Walls/Facades Evaluate and describe the Testing Procedures for compliance
CPD 4 – A Specifiers Guide to Commercial Glazed Façade Systems
Summary: Selecting and specifying the most appropriate Glazed Façade Systems can play a crucial role in the success of your building. Glazed Facades are critical building elements in terms of aesthetics and performance. However, there are many key considerations when selecting materials, including, supply chains, availability and installation methods.
At the end of this presentation you should be able to: Use the terminology of Façade Design Explain the key considerations of Façade Design Describe the aspects of Façade performance Assess and discuss the applications of different Façade types
